Short, specific, and actually accurate

Privacy Policy

SG Streets doesn't use accounts, cookies for tracking, or ad networks. Here is exactly what data the site touches, and what happens to it. Last updated August 2026.

Your location — never stored, never sent to us

Nothing on SG Streets requests your location until you explicitly tap the "Near me" button in the header. When you do, your browser's own geolocation API asks your permission directly — we never see that prompt or control it. The coordinates your browser returns are used entirely on your device (in your browser) to centre a map and filter nearby results. They are never transmitted to, logged by, or stored on SG Streets' servers. Turning "Near me" off, or simply closing the tab, discards it — there is nothing left to delete because nothing was ever kept.

Anonymous, country-level analytics

We keep a simple counter of page views by country, so we know roughly where visitors come from and which pages are used. Here's exactly how that works:

  • Your country is resolved from a CDN-provided header when available, or otherwise from a one-time IP lookup against a third-party geolocation service (ip-api.com).
  • Your IP address itself is never stored in the clear. It is only ever used, briefly, to compute a salted one-way hash (SHA-256) used as a cache key so the same visitor isn't re-looked-up on every page view. That cached answer expires automatically after 30 days.
  • What we actually keep is aggregate counters: a running view count per country, plus the most recent page and title visited from that country. No individual visitor profile, browsing history, or IP list is ever built or stored.

Contact form messages

If you use the Contact Us form, we store the name, email address, subject and message you provide so we can read and reply to you. As with analytics, your IP address is only kept as a salted hash (not in the clear), used solely to apply a basic rate limit against spam. Messages are stored in a protected, access-restricted area and are only readable by the site operator through a password-protected admin panel. We don't use your contact details for marketing, and we don't share them with third parties.

Route Alerts

The Send Route Alert tool stores the from/to locations, mode, and a report on traffic, MRT/LRT status and weather that we compile automatically from live data at the moment you create the link — you don't type anything yourself. That link is not private — anyone who has it can open the alert, by design, since the whole point is to send it to someone. Every alert is automatically deleted 3 days after it's created, whether or not anyone opened it, and there's no way to extend that. As with the contact form, your IP address is only ever kept as a salted hash, used solely for a basic anti-spam rate limit.

No accounts, no ad tracking

SG Streets has no user accounts, no login, and no advertising or third-party tracking scripts. Your theme preference (Dark View / Light View) is stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your device — it's never sent to us.

Third-party data providers

To show live data, your browser (or our server, on your behalf) makes requests to LTA DataMall, AirLabs, and OneMap Singapore. Each of those providers may log requests according to their own privacy practices, which SG Streets does not control. We recommend reviewing their policies if you have concerns about that layer.

Server logs

Like virtually any website, the web server itself may keep short-lived standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent) for security and troubleshooting purposes, subject to the hosting provider's own retention policy. These are not used for tracking or profiling.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
